Van Peppen is fascinated by Indonesian history, religion and culture. Especially in Bali there is no escaping from it, Hinduism with its numerous ceremonies, is so intertwined in society that it expresses itself in the smallest daily details. During her (artist in) residency in North Bali, Indonesia (2020), she explored to what extent this lifestyle can be preserved in today’s changing society.
