I am fascinated by Indonesian history, religion and culture. Especially in Bali there is no escaping from it, Hinduism with its numerous ceremonies, is so intertwined in society that it expresses itself in the smallest daily details. During my (artist in) residency in North Bali, Indonesia (2020), I explored to what extent this lifestyle can be preserved in today’s changing society.
Ik ben gefascineerd door de Indonesische geschiedenis, religie en cultuur. Vooral op Bali is er geen ontkomen aan, het Hindoeïsme met zijn talloze ceremonies is zo verweven in de samenleving dat het zich uit in de kleinste dagelijkse details. Tijdens mijn (artist in) residency in Noord-Bali, Indonesië (2020), heb ik onderzocht in hoeverre deze levensstijl behouden kan blijven in de huidige veranderende samenleving.
